Corrine Chalmers – The Director

I believe your health is your #1 priority and sets the foundation for your entire life. Money can’t buy both parents sharing the best years of their children’s lives. The greatest gift you can give your children is to take care of yourself through proper exercise, nutrition and rest. It’s the best way to love your family.
As a born organiser I’m in my element when I’m making things happen behind the scenes, so I’m “blessed” to have found Chris. He shares the same outlook on life and fitness and is happy for me to take the lead! Together – with the assistance of separate office windows that can be shut – we work as a strong team and play to our strengths.
How I got here
Having always loved the active lifestyle, I participated in Mountain Bike Enduro’s, Fun Runs and School Athletics Competitions throughout school. While at University I played netball competitively. I am currently swimming once a week along with CrossFitting, with the goal to obtain my bronze medallion by next year.
While majoring in Public Relations at Deakin University, I also acquired Cert III and IV in Fitness. I really struggle to sit still, so as a Uni student my mornings were spent training clients as my afternoons were spent in lectures and tutorials.
My “Aha! Moment” came when I realized I could combine my flair for business with my passion for fitness. I came into my entrepreneurial husband’s life at just the right time – together Chris and I have successfully run Bootcamp Geelong, Physical Revolution and CrossFit Geelong.
I am CrossFit Level 1 certified. The reason people are convinced CrossFit is a fantastic fitness method is that even the owners practice what they preach. In the 2013 CrossFit Open I was ranked 370th in Australia. I’m in the top 7% of female CrossFitters in the world. I’m so excited to have qualified for the 2013 CrossFit Regionals, being held in May this year. Bring it on!!
Why I do what I do
I have two young children under 4 and a 12-year-old stepson. I choose to set an example to them and set out to prove to other mums that it can be safe and healthy to exercise throughout pregnancy and immediately after (obviously with proper scaling). I’m proud to say that I finished the Tough Mudder event in Phillip Island only 5 months after our little girl was born and am now the strongest I have ever been.
Many mothers believe that they can never return their body to the state it was before the pregnancy. With hard work, I have shown that simply isn’t true, I have never had so much energy or felt so fantastic!
Stay Tuned…
Right now I’m working on a bonus blog for this website called Corrine’s Kitchen. I can’t wait to share all the tasty meals and treats based on the Paleothic Diet that many of us at CrossFit Geelong love so much! All the recipes I will upload have been created to help those adjust to the Paleo lifestyle.
