I grew up playing many sports through my childhood as you usually do coming from a small town, football, soccer, gymnastics, martial arts, etc.
During high School you would always find me at the skate part either inline skating, skateboarding, or on a bmx. In my mid 20’s I found my way back into Martial arts where I studied Kyokushin Karate. I was fortunate enough to have trained under the Australian Team coach (Sensei Steve Hardy) and quickly found myself competing in full contact karate. Under his guidance, I managed to hold a Victorian and NSW State titles and gain an Australian title in the 5th KYU & under divisions.
Later the same year, my fiance and I decided to move to Canada, here I trained in MMA for a few years and then found CrossFit. It wasn’t until I had to have surgery on my knee (due to a freak accident at home) that I had to give up MMA and focus on rehabilitation.
I used CrossFit methodology to rehab myself back to being able to move correctly and correct movement issues that I was having post-op (as well as having some awesome physio’s). During this time we moved from Vancouver to Fort St. John where I started training at the local box. After 2 years of training I decided to get my Level one as I wanted to know more about CrossFit & shortly after obtaining the certificate I was offered a coaching position.
I coached at CrossFit 187 & during this time I built up a fantastic relationship with the local physio and together we were able to help our clients overcome their limitations.
I am really loving getting involved in the Community here at CrossFit Geelong and looking forward to being part of the team for many years to come!
